How much can being selfish really benefit you? Well not too much as people who are totally self centred are much more likely to have personality disorders and become socially isolated. But a paying a little bit of attention to yourself does you a whole lot of good.

You need to become just enough of a narcissist to boost your mood but without making any enemies, finding the balance is very important.

Most narcissists don’t worry about speaking in public or going for an important job interview, that’s because they rarely think about what they do before they do it. Most of us too easily catastrophise thinking about “what if”, so sometimes it’s good to act first and think afterwards.

It seems counter intuitive to what we’re taught, but instigate positive behaviours and positive thoughts will follow.

Maybe not a good idea to spend too much on how you look and spending half your wages on expensive products, instead value yourself and they way you look. Look after yourself but not to the point of expensive surgery. Remember you are beautiful just the way you are!

Studies show that if you roll out of the front door without brushing your hair, you’re more likely to feel miserable. So planning ahead is a good thing to do to save time in the mornings. Prepare your clothes for the next day and maybe your breakfast too.

So give yourself a bit more attention and start to value yourself a bit more, it will pay off in the long run.
