Hey. I'm Spencer and thank you for checking out my profile! I present the Weekend Wind-Up show every Saturday from midday until 3pm. When you tune in you can expect to hear more of the quality tunes you can expect from Phoenix FM, some interesting chat, lots of laughs plus special guests to keep you entertained. Alongside being a presenter on Phoenix FM, I am a qualified Actor who trained at LAMDA. Professional work includes A Midsummer Nights Dream and Les Miserables on stage and on the screen EastEnders, Dream Team, Mile High, Love Actually and A Kind of Hush - all of which I am massively proud of and I've juggled all of this with the mundane task of being a grown up with responsibilities including two awesome children. Love all types of music from acoustic folk, to mega-cheesy pop. An 80s boy at heart, who loves to talk, laugh and listen to what you have to say. Thank you for listening and for chosing Phoenix - we really appreciate it and never take your support for granted!

Who is Cassandra?! Listen and find out!

A couple of weeks ago, I was visited in the studio by Actress and Performer Andrea Sandell, accompanied by actors Dave Watts and Anthony Reddy, who came in with two colleagues to talk about their new project “Cassandra”.

It’s a suspenseful futuristic thriller currently being filmed in and around the borough.

You can listen to the interview with Andrea below and you can find out more from Andrea on Twitter @arsandell, Dave on @davewatts002 and Anthony @Reddy2act.

It was a great interview and they have some exciting projects lined up including a homage to the ever popular “Dallas” which is taking place on Saturday 11 August (my birthday!) on the terrace of Ingatestone Hall. This original production promises to be a fun filled evening and tickets can be purchased on the door at the bargain price of £10!

Enjoy!

INTERVIEW

What a great show! – Saturday 30 June

Not my words – I’m far to modest, but the words of dear Joanie, who contacted me in the studio with her first EVER email that she sent. In her mid 80s, she has decided to go online and her first email was to request Queen’s “Radio Gaga” on my show.

Turns out she is a new listener and she likes what she hears – so I am doubly chuffed that she choses to listen to PhoenixFM and that I was the recipient of her first ever email!

Thanks Joanie!

I really hope all of you enjoyed yesterday’s show – it was a blast and made extra special by my guest in the studio, Screen Writer, Author, Director, Actor and Hurricane Dodger – Elaine Spires (pictured).  An inspiring woman with a fabulous back story. Who after spending some years in Antigua has come back to our great county.

To find out about what Elaine’s up to, which is perfect for anyone looking to audition for theatre school, get into acting through her creative Drama projects, any new or experienced public speakers or anyone wishing to learn Spanish, visit her website on www.elainespires.co.uk

Tracks you would have heard played yesterday include:

The Detroit Spinners – Working My Way Back To You

Five Star – Brand New World

Alison Moyet – Invisible

Alcazar – Someday

Bucks Fizz – Are You Ready

The Blow Monkeys – It Pays to Belong

The Saturdays – Higher

George Ezra – Shotgun

Westlife – Hey Whatever

Bananarama – Preacher Man

Sophie Ellis Bexter – Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer)

Plus much, much more.

Stay tined for the recording of the show which will be uploaded shortly!

In the meantime, I’ll see you next Saturday at midday for more great music, good chat and lots of laughs.

Have a good week!

Spencer

This week’s Wednesday Wine Down – 16 May 2018

Hi!

I hope you are looking forward to this week’s show – come and join me at 10pm on Phoenix at 98fm.

The playlist this week is cracking – I have some really good tracks to play you! Along with this, there will be the chosen news story of the week and I also have a special guest joining me in the studio.

Local entrepreneur, mum of two and community star, Jane Franklin, is the owner of Sparkle – a long established theatre school which gives opportunities to young performers looking to progress in the Performing Arts industry. But this is just one string to her bow – Jane is also an ambassador for the charity SNAP (Special Needs And Parents). This is a registered charity (No.1077787) that helps Essex families with children and young people who have any special need or disability.

Their aims are to inform, encourage and support parents, so that they can grow in strength and knowledge and become better equipped to give the best possible help to their children.

Jane also provides an online support group for over 300 families nationwide (and globally). And she has a great story to tell.

So please join me at 10pm for a great couple of hours!

Welcome to the Wednesday Wine-Down show – launching Wednesday 25 April

Hi!

I wanted to say hi and introduce myself….I’m Spencer Carter and I am the newest member of the Phoenixfm team.

I am hosting the new “Wednesday Wine -Down” show which you can hear every Wednesday (funnily enough!) from 10pm until midnight.

I will be playing a great mix of songs which will hopefully settle you down for the night and get you starting to look forward to the weekend – yes, we have got through most of the week!

You can expect to hear from various guests live in studio talking about all manner of things and each week I will be talking about many things including theatre reviews (including chosen soundtracks), what’s happening in the world and it will all be done with humour, warmth and hopefully, with you all joining me.

My colleagues have told me all about the great and loyal audience Phoenixfm have and it is really special to be a part of that and hopefully, with time, you’ll all be tuning in.

It would be really great to hear from you before or during the show so please email radio@phoenixfm.com via Facebook – phoenixfm and Twitter – phoenixfm.

I can’t wait to start – and for you to join me!
