It’s very important to keep your heart as healthy as possible, and even if you’ve already had a heart attack, some simple lifestyle changes could still improve your heart health.

Eat whole unprocessed organic foods grown locally.The Mediterranean diet is highlighted here once again, plenty of fresh fish and vegetables can result in a marked improvement in your heart health.

A low carb diet can reduce inflammation after 6 months, avoid white sugar or white flour,potatoes, biscuits and cakes.

Eating walnuts a few times a week can almost halve your chances of suffering heart disease, and nut oils help to maintain strong blood vessels. Pecans are high in vitamin E and lower the bad cholesterol, almonds lower blood pressure and legumes  and beans can lower heart disease risk. A square or two of dark chocolate each day can also be good.

Occasionally a day long fast, drinking only water can be beneficial, it can reduce inflammation. Green tea is also very good for you, around 6 or 7 cups a day will give you a powerful antioxidant boost and help to stave off heart problems.

Soy is good for the heart too, as it contains low levels of fat and cholesterol. It’s also an excellent source of of fibre as well as different vitamins and minerals.

Take time to exercise and to meditate, which has been proven to lower blood pressure, around 20 minutes a day is enough to make a difference.
