Arthritis and asthma medication reduces the effects of Parkinson’s and is paving the way for new research. People who took this medication were found to suffer 20% less tremors.

It is possible that Parkinsons may be triggered by an over active immune system which the drugs work to reduce. Researchers are currently investigating people who have been newly diagnosed and hopefully those results willl be available soon. In addition research is also being carried out on a cocktail of medication which will assist the brain to repair itself, which will also be of use to patients who have suffered a stroke and also those who may be susceptible to Alzheimers.

It has also been reported in various studies that it is very bad for you if you don’t get the right amount of sleep, and, rather alarmingly, it has been found that the brain actually starts to eat itself if it doesn’t get that sleep healing time!

If you don’t get enough sleep your body goes into overdrive and certain of your brain cells start to eat each other, which may be why sleep is more important as you get older and those who don’t sleep well are more likely to report dementia onset and Alzheimers.

Women who sleep too much or too little had a 70% greater chance of having a stroke. The optimum amount of sleep has now been set at 7 hours. Prevention is better than cure, so make sure you get a good night’s sleep.
