I had a serious problem the other day. I went on holiday and had to go on a 2 hour journey (not even to mention the 2 hour journey home). ‘So what Chris?’ you say, ‘you travel for 2 hours every day, chillax fool!’ Ah but this is different. Normally  I travel by train on my own. Today I travel by car, with 4 other people, and worst of all they are my family!!

So what’s the problem? I’ll tell you… music! 5 people in the car and 5 completely different tastes in music. We can never agree on what to listen to. Now I do have an advantage. I am the passenger or co-pilot if you will. Meaning I am master of the music system in the car. However that doesn’t mean I can override the needs of the others (well a little I can). So here is what I have to deal with.

My youngest is 5 months old and only enjoys Lionel Ritchie. Yes you heard me correctly! My eldest son enjoys the musical stylings of Guns & Roses. My daughter favours the music of Tangled and Frozen. And Mrs S likes anything that isn’t rubbish, or from her point of view, anything that isn’t what I like! As for me, obviously I have an eclectic and sophisticated musical taste able to cross boundaries without being pigeon holed in any specific genre.

But with such wide ranging tastes in the car, I have to do something to appease the situation. And so I revert to some old friends I know we will all enjoy on our our way to Margate…
