Abbey plays live in studio after flight of 10,500 miles

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We’ve had guests playing live who’ve travelled all the way from Japan and the USA in past years but we’ve never had anyone who’s made it all the way from Australia, until now.

Abbey Frances is a female-led indie rock band, led by Abbey, who started off as a solo singer-songwriter.

The project seamlessly transitioned into a band last year with the addition of drummer Matt, who joined Abbey in our studio, and guitarist Tom who is still over Australia.

Recent singles ‘That Star’ and ‘These Hearts’ have gained them a following back home, with attention from Australia’s national broadcaster ABC who have been featuring the band frequently on air.

Abbey and Matt appeared to Andy Gardener’s Monday night show Under The Radar, where they played live and talked about their experiences both home and abroad.

I’d love to think that the band flew 10,500 miles just to play live in Brentwood, but they are actually spending a whole year in Europe playing gigs and writing.

After leaving us they flew off to Copenhagen before returning to London to play more shows and release a new single ‘Ants’, which received its first radio play anywhere on Andy’s show.

You can hear the interview again at phoenixfm.com and you can also catch up with the band at facebook.com/abbeyfrancesmusic too.
