Howzat! International cricket great interviewed by Daren on his show

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

The football season may be over, but the many sports fans on the station are looking forward to the cricket season just as much.

Our cricket show 98 Not Out, hosted by Daren Mootoo, enters its 5th season of providing news and insights from the local, county and international cricket scene.

And to use completely the wrong metaphor, we had a fantastic interview to kick it all off. Our latest show features an interview with former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara.

When Kumar retired in 2014, he was the second highest One Day International run scorer at international level, behind Sachin Tendulkar, and the 6th highest test scorer too.

He’s had some incredible career highlights, including beating India in the T20 World Final in 2014, where his 52 not out gave him the Player of the Match award.

Daren said that he was not only honoured but a little nervous to be talking to one of his cricketing heroes.

98 Not Out has recently had some other fantastic interviews, including former England players David Gower and Geoff Miller.

You can hear all of the interviews again at phoenixfm.com.
