How are you sleeping? It seems that sleep is a genuine problem for many of us, particularly women. You fall asleep for an hour or so then you wake up, wide awake, thinking of bills to pay, things to do, jobs to complete.
So what can you do?
No matter how small your problems are they seem to be a million times worse in the dead of night. Dreams can seem irrational too.
Anxiety can be a real problem. Therefore it is good to do a little meditation before you sleep.People always say they sleep better after meditating, and there are quite a few apps and meditations available on the internet.
Give yourself time to wind down before you go to bed, so there’s a clear break between waking and sleeping.
make a list of all of the things that you have to do before you go to bed. That way you won’t wake up and worry about forgetting about your tasks, and you are more prepared for the day ahead.
Also during the evening, make a list of all of the positive things that you’ve achieved that day. Even if you’ve had bad experiences, congratulate yourself on how well you’ve handled them.
Take the stress out of your evening and prepare for the next day.
Then make a sleep diary, and see if you can build uo an insight into how you sleep over a period of time. What keeps you awake and what helps you to sleep.
The ideal amount of sleep we need varies in each of us, but somewhere between 6 and 8 hours is good. Sweet dreams!
