I was amazed and somewhat comforted to read the headline this week that read ” Overweight People Live Longer”.

Apparently those with grade 1 obesity live longer than people with greater levels of obesity, and they have about the same risk of mortality as normal weight people. Researchers think that the few extra pound may have a protective effect, and provide energy  reserves if you suffer a life threatening illness or surgery.

That news made me feel even better about the other great news that chocolate really is good for you. If you’ve had a heart attack, research has proved that eating chocolate regularly can protect against a further attack. Dark chocolate seems to increase the production of good cholesterol and reduce the bad one. It is a natural sunscreen, not by painting it over your bady, but by just eating a few squares of dark chocolate a day you can help to build your resistance to harmful uva rays.
