We’ve been playing out Gentlemen by Itz_official_cxj recently on Phoenix FM, and we caught up with CJ to find out a little bit more about his life and music.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi, I’m Corey Stuckey Jr but I go by CJ. I’m an 18 year old R’n’B artist born in Illinois. I have a big passion for music itself and I am very excited to share it with the world.
When did you first start to develop a passion for music?
I started developing music around 10 years old when I heard early 2000s R’n’B playing on the radio in my mom’s car.
Which artists did you listen to while growing up?
The artists I grew up to listening to are Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Usher, Ne-Yo, Jason Derulo, and Maroon 5. Those were my favourites growing up.
How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?
I will describe my music to someone as something different and very unique then music that we have today.
What music have you recorded and released to date?
My latest song is called “Gentlemen” and was released September 14, 2023.
Who do you enjoy listening to right now and do they influence your songwriting?
The artist I enjoy listen to at the moment is Chris Brown. Chris Brown in a way does influence my work when it comes to his songs back in the day.
Who would your dream collaboration be with?
My dream collaboration is with either Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Usher, or Jason Derulo.
What are your plans for the future?
To become really really famous around the world and bring back early 2000’s R’n’B!
