You may have heard us playing Les Gens Comme Nous by syllys feat Sweet Dice on Phoenix FM recently.

We caught up with Syllys to find out a little bit more about her life and music.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

My love and passion for music took root from my earliest childhood, around the age of six. At that time, I was already a little traveling artist, when. With my parents we took the train to go to Italy, entertaining the travelers. In the carriage, I sang and danced, revealing my innate thirst for the stage. And making the travelers laugh My desire to pursue an artistic career materialized at school, where I explored theater with passion. Subsequently, I became president of the young artists of Isère, taking the initiative to organize memorable shows. Then I started singing in cabarets at the age of 17. My passion for music has never faltered over the years, remaining firmly anchored in me.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

I regularly listened to Daniel Balavoine, Freddy Mercury, The Police, Midnight Oil, Peter Gabriel, Michael Jackson, and many others. I was passionate about Anglo-Saxon music, and this passion continues today!

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

I am a person constantly in search of mystery in my creations. I harmoniously combine period sounds with contemporary ones, nourishing a nostalgia for the sounds of the 80s. For many years, I explored and experimented with various musical styles. Today, I embark on a new adventure, a small dive into the world of electro-pop.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

So far, I have produced around 20 singles and three albums. Recently, I recorded a piece in the Synth-Pop style, followed by a few ballads. In parallel, I perform many covers. My involvement in the creative process goes beyond production, as I also write the melodies and lyrics for my compositions.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

I am currently listening to French variety, particularly artists that I greatly appreciate such as Hoshi, Slimane, and many others. I always have a special place for the group Queen in my listening, their music being timeless.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

Dreaming of collaborations, I wonder with whom I would like to share the stage. My ultimate dream would be to sing alongside an exceptional Greek tenor, Mario Frangoulis. However, I do not just dream, as I fully live my passion for music, no matter what challenges come my way.

Do you have any other projects?

I am involved in writing a novel, the completion of which is progressing slowly.

What are your plans for the future?

My future projects include the realization of a new feature film, also being an actress. I have just finished filming a movie entitled “Princess”, which is currently being presented at various festivals, including Cannes. Afterwards, I plan to continue my writing and composition activities, with an EP in the works. My creative commitment is constant, and I never stop exploring new ideas.
