You may have heard us playing out I Won’t Let You Take My Soul by Illeeria Lee recently here on Phoenix FM – but who is Illeeria? We caught up with her to find out more about her life and music.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I have a passion for animals and have worked with dogs for over 20 years. I’m a huge fan of horror fan and stand-up comedy, particularly Ricky Gervais.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

When I purchased my first album, Men In Black. At this time I also discovered Alicia Keys.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

Old school hip hop, Alicia Keys, Eminem, R’n’B, classical music and film soundtracks.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

Genre bending – I tend not to stick to the same genre. I like to have each single a different genre. On my main album, my lyrics tell a story and are based on true events. The melody tells me what to write and I have to feel the emotions in order to write any song.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

Drakaina; You and I; Inside My World; Fury and I Won’t Let You Take My Soul. Plus instrumentals and remixes.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

Currently I’m trying not to listening to other music. I’ve been so heavily influenced by Alicia Keys that I’m now trying to find my own style and voice.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

Alicia Keys.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m hopefully going to finish my first album this year, and grow my YouTube channel and connect with my audience.
