Even though Phoenix FM has been going strong for 27 years – in fact tomorrow (Thursday) is the anniversary of our formation as a group – we still have no shortage of local poets and musicians to chat to on air, and that fact gives me no end of pleasure. Because – let’s face it – who wants to copy all the other radio stations out there?
Michelle Ward very recently spoke to one of each on her award-winning Eat My Brunch show.
Kelli-Marie Sellwood is a poet, dance coordinator and project guru who performs at many local events, including most recently at last weekend’s Green City Event in Chelmsford.
She’s also the driving force between the Woodland WOOM Project – a community-grown food forest attraction. Collaborating with local artists, scientist, engineers, permaculture teachers, charities and businesses, the project provides a healing and creative educational space for all to enjoy.
Steve Mortimer is a singer/songwriter and producer who makes music under the names S R Mortimer and Black Chapel. He’s worked as a remixer and producer as Black Chapel, and more recently with the highly successful Connect Film and Performance.
He now writes and sings thoughtful, moody and beautiful songs chronicling his experience with his own mental health experiences. Steve will be live at Chelmsford’s Hot Box on September 30.
You can find out more about Kelli-Marie’s project at www.facebook.com/TheWoodlandWOOMproject and Steve at linktr.ee/s.r.mortimer. You can also hear both interviews with Michelle again on phoenixfm.com.
