Artist Feature: Faithful Tragedy

You may have heard us playing Teri Yaado Mai by Delhi band Faithful Tragedy on Phoenix FM over the past couple of weeks. We caught up with Anubhav Basaou to find out more about his life and love of music.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a modern time producer, who is an experimental artist with different techniques of recording and expressing. As an Artist I am very much identify myself as a vampire , not a blood sucking night monster as you see in Hollywood ( lol ) but a wooden soul who feels deeply , love hard ; I guess it is where all poetry comes from.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

Music was a part of my life as long I can remember ( important one ) singing in school class to learning harmonium as ” Extracurricular “when I was 15 but it’s happen when I find ( pink ) Floyd in my college life that how I can portray life and myself and this is I want to do in life full-time. before that I use to write poem and fascinated with art in general ( as grew up in house filled with canvas ) it all come together .

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

A Lot of Bollywood , Atif Aslam was major Idol back then who got me hooked to rock in start ; then Pakistani band like Jal was my personal favourites. Mohit Chauhan with rockstar inspired me till date then pink Floyd changed my world and all 80’s rock band I discovered pretty late but accurate to my timeline I valued them because I was teen already and pretty much committed , Tool , Porcupine Tree , All them witches , The re-stoned are my music DNA .

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

Melancholic Psychedelic/ Progressive Trip

What music have you recorded and released to date?

I have released 2 ep & 5 singles till now you can find them on Spotify and Band camp. It’s all very experimental in recording techniques and different from general music and artistic and Personal ; most it part of Bigg long concept album I recommend you all to check it all out .

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

Right now I am listening to – Sleep Token , Bad Omens & Lot of Dream Pop – ShoeGaze music .
About Influencing part I am a student of music , I learn from every thing I love . I don’t like to think it is in those terms , I just absorb whatever I like and when I produce or compose it all come out subconsciously whether it’s a music score of a movie that inspired me or a piece of music that I love , that must be there if you can hear it but I have pretty much my own stamp on things I do .

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

A.R. Rahman // Steven Wilson // David Gilmour

What are your plans for the future?

To complete all my long concept Albums I been working for last several years and present all story I want to share with world . I also want tour world with my music as it is written in scenario to play live , I think it would be quite an experience with live audience.
