We’ve been playing out All My Lies, the new track by Apricity on Rising Stars. But who is she? We chat to her to find out all about her …

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I am an alternative rock artist, originally from beautiful Ayrshire in Scotland. I moved to Ontario in Canada and I now reside outside of Toronto.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

I’ve always loved music. I grew up listening to it more so than television.

I used to lock myself in the bedroom and sign to Abba and Kate Bush with a hairbrush as a microphone. I love everything from Abba, Kate Bush and Blondie to Evanescence, Garbage and Alanis Morissette.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

I’d like to say my music has an eerie dystopian ambiance with a rock flair. I do not want to compare myself to another artist or band, but obviously there are definite influences from modern and past rock while bringing my own vibe.

Tell us about All My Lies?

All My Lies, which I released on October 30 last year is the first single from my upcoming EP, which will be released in the spring of 2021. For the recording, I teamed up with platinum-awarded and Juno nominated producer, writer and multi-instrumentalist Thomas McKay, who is best known for the Band JoyDrop, and Vic Florencia, a Juno award-winning engineer/mixer based out of Toronto who has worked with such artists as Jason Mraz, Five For Fighting, Steven Page and Snoop Dogg.

The song was written by Keith Varon who has had success on Billboard, most recently with Machine Gun Kelly.

The next track from the EP will be The Fear, which is out in February. There will be an accompanying music video to tell the story.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

So many great artists to choose from. I would love to work with Amy Lee from Evanesence, or Alanis.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m currently finishing my EP but also working on a song with another artist which I am super excited about. It will join two genres together.

Where can we find out more about you?

I’m on all streaming services and you can also follow me on Facebook and Instagram to find out more about my music.
