Film festival offers something for everyone with this year’s line-up

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We’re big fans of film on Phoenix FM, but as Brentwood doesn’t have a regular film festival then the Romford one more than satisfies our cravings.

Our Arts programme hosts Natalie Bays and Spencer Hawken welcomed filmmakers Scott Lyus and Chris Harvey to the studio to talk about this year’s Romford Film Festival line up.

The festival offers something for everyone, from documentaries to short films, thrillers and drama features. As well as a general overview, Chris and Scott talked about their very different filmmaking journeys.

Once again, Phoenix FM is involved as an event sponsor. Last year we handed out the prize for Best Foreign Language Film and it ended up with us appearing in a feature on TV news in Kazakhstan!

You can find out more about this year’s event, which starts today and runs until May 30, at www.romfordfilmfestival.com and hear Natalie and Spencer chatting to Chris and Scott at www.phoenixfm.com.

And you can hear more movie news all year round with Mark Searby’s weekly rundown of new DVD and movie releases, every Saturday afternoon with Spencer Carter on The Weekend Wind Up.
