Friday Night Extra 3.7.15 with guests Nathalie, Torquil & Louise

On a lovely sunny evening, we had a packed show tonight. In the first hour my guest were Nathalie & Torquil Macleod and Louise Knight. Having visited the OSU Children’s Home in Ghana, Nathalie felt passionately that she had to try and do something to help the children. She saw a school bus that they were using that was clearly in very bad condition. Talking about it with her friend Louise, they decided the answer was to organise a charity ball to raise money to buy a bus to help make sure the children could get to school. The home has over two hundred children covering all the years of schooling. Torqil told us about the importance given to education in Ghana and that it is seen as a way out of poverty. By funding the bus, contributors will be investing in the children’s future. There are full details on the Phoenix98FM events guide, with links through to the facebookpage. We also said “Happy Birthday” to Nathalie’s father, listening in Ghana.

Tonight’s playlist

Booker T & MGs – Crazy – show theme
Band Perry – All your life
Coldcut – Walk a mile in my shoes
Toto – Africa
Soweto String Quartet – Kwedo
Bisa Kdei – Madanfo – a track from Ghana

Join me next week, when my guest in the first hour is Tom Page, who has recently discovered the joy of playing the ukulele. In the second hour I am joined by Keith Brown, awarded an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours for charity work. He will be telling us all about these activities.
