Archdeacon Jonathan’s role covers all of mid Essex, stretching from Maldon and the Denge peninsular to Epping and Ongar, including Brentwood and Chelmsford. He is an Essex boy, educated in Southend. Prior to the announcement of his appointment last summer, he had for twenty year been the Vicar in Gipsy Hill, south London. Before ordination, and for a while afterwards, he worked as a partner and then COO of a European Law firm, Taylor Wessing LLP. He spoke of the church as being the place where everyone is welcome, everyone is equal and all  should be seeking to be more like Jesus.

Billy Joel – Piano man – 1974 USA no 25. 421 in 2004 Rolling Stone 500 Greatest songs of all time. Over 300 million hits on Spotify and 255 million on YouTube. Jonathan has always loved playing the piano. When he was younger his parents could always tell the kind of day he had at school by the music he played when he came home. He had also thought that one day he might be the next Elton John or Billy Joel.

Julian Lennon – Too late for goodbyes – 1984 UK 6, USA 5, Top 20 in four more countries. Julian recently celebrated his 61st birthday.
