Tonight we were privileged in the first hour to dedicate the show to Sheila Evill reading from her father’s diary from World War One. Instant responses were that the reading was very moving and that it made the realities of the experiences of the soldiers very real. We heard about her father going to fight in the trenches, about his experiences and being wounded and the treatment he received. Sheila also told us that after recovery he was sent back to fight. She answered some the listeners questions in the second hour. We learnt that the Imperial War Museum have shown an interest in the diary and also the bullet that injured him. Sheila also told us that in World War Two he was in the Home Guard.
