Garry Smith was my guest in the studio tonight. He talked about his work as a management consultant and also his involvement with a charity that seeks to combat human trafficing. We talked considerably about his recent trip to Kenya to help a group there with organising the production of items made from beads and also looking at ways that these can be marketed in the UK. He told us about a school in Bolton that is looking to make this a project for students.

We had a wide range of music tonight. The full listing is below. We also had some unusual news stories. One concerned the Pope phoning a 19 year old student who had left him a letter after a mass. My favourite amongst the others was a story from Wales where Swansea Council sent the info for a road sign to restrict the entrance of good vehicles to their translation department. On the return of the info, they had it placed on the sign and then put up the sign at the entrance to the road. In English it read ‘No entry for heavy goods vehicles. Residential site only.’ Underneath in Welsh it read, ‘I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated.’ You could not make it up!
