We’ve been playing Hustling by Sandwichez regularly on Phoenix FM recently – but who is he? We caught up with him to find our more about his life and music.
Tell us a little bit about your yourself?
I’m Enrico Madrid – the name Sandwichez is a staple of attitude, an expression of motion.
When did you first start to develop a passion for music?
My passion for music was developed 2010 or 2011 my second semester in college.
Which artists did you listen to while growing up?
Growing up I was very interested in the controversy in rap; I listened to Jay-Z and Nas, Biggie, Tupac, 50 Cent. This was all before what they call drill music.
How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?
My music is annoying because it’s my music and not anyone else’s.
What music have you recorded and released to date?
Various albums are available on Spotify and iTunes – Earthlings, Mean Cold, the list goes on.
Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?
Jay Critch is an artist I enjoy and Dua Lipa they probably don’t directly influence my lyrics but I wouldn’t mind jumping on stage at a Dua Lipa concert.
Who would your dream collaboration be with?
My dream collaboration is with Plies.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future will be made in the future – that’s what my staff thinks is best.
