We’ve been playing Losin All My Self Control from Backstage recently – and we caught up with him to find out more.
Tell us a little about yourself?
I have always put music in the foreground and I am a person who likes several forms of music, but I work best in the background, hence my artist name of “Backstage”.
When did you first start developing a passion for music?
It probably started when I was 5-6 years old, my father loved music
What artists did you listen to while growing up?
A lot of 80s music shaped me, including Hithouse, M/A/R/R/S, S-Express, Mel & Kim etc.
But the one that has meant the most is the Dutch artist “KOTO”, where I have the instrumental music pieces from.
How would you describe your music to someone who has not heard you before?
Dance music with mixed style (80s, techno, trance) and backstage own arrangement.
What music have you recorded and released to date?
I have been releasing music on SoundCloud since 2015. More recently I’ve been publishing on other streaming services and Spotify too. Losin All My Self Control will be available on Spotify from January 14
Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they affect your work?
I listen to a lot of radio. Here during the Christmas holidays, I have listened a lot to “Losin all My self control” partly because the collaboration has taken place over the internet, as “bsondbrid” lives in the US and I still like the song, even though I have spent many hours on downmix.
Who would your dream collaboration be with?
It’s a difficult question, I really do not have anyone specific.
what are your plans for the future?
To keep making music!
