We’ve been playing The Happy Curmudgeons’ current single, “2nd Chances”, here on Phoenix FM recently and we caught up with the band to chat about their music.
Tell us a little bit about your yourselves?
The Happy Curmudgeons are a group of studio musicians that decided to get together to record original music. We were assembled by Dave Hamilton in 2015.
Which artists influence your sound?
Every musician in this band has a strong passion for music and brings a different genre to the table. The band has strong influence from Bob Dylan, Robert Hunter, Jerry Garcia, Neil Young and Tom Petty.
How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?
We’re a mix of contemporary folk, blues, old country, and classic rock.
What music have you recorded and released to date?
Our debut album, “Meant 2 Be”, was released in 2017 with Nate Harasim and Mark Byerly (Bob Seger Band) co-producing the album. Mark Byerly is the lone producer for the 2nd Chances project. We’re hoping to release our second album in early 2020.
Who would your dream collaboration be with?
Our dream collaboration would be to work with Bob Dylan, but being from the metro Detroit area – Bob Seger or Jack White would be excellent too.
What are your plans for the future?
2nd Chances is the first single from the new project and the name of the second album due out next year. www.happycurmudgeonsband.com
