This afternoon’s guest was Lorraine from Lozzie Hakes Bakes – an Essex cake maker who conjures-up a variety of colourful delights for birthdays and special occasions.

We spoke about how she got into cake-making, tips for working in the kitchen, getting that cake perfect first time (no more soggy innards!), plus hygiene (eggs in the fridge!) and how those fancy cake-tops are created (or printed!).

The cost of a cake can often surprise some, and a “custom” cake is very different to just getting something off-the-shelf from the supermarket. She caters for birthdays with a variety of designs including football, cars, animals as well as simple “thank you” gifts like boxes of cup-cakes.
