Friday Night Extra 23.5.14 More chilling

On a lovely evening here in sunny down-town Brentwood we had another helping of relaxing music to ease away the stress of the week. Added to this were some unusual news stories, it was the usual Friday Night Extra mix. Our news story about a survey answered by 50,000 people about how they felt about where they lived, that had been developed into a ranking system that make a top ten and bottom ten certainly led to much comment. I asked for least favourite places before I read it out. Rene mentioned Croydon and it is in the bottom 10 at number 3! Ex residents, residents now and those who had worked in Enfield were appalled it was number 6 in the bottom 10. As an ex-resident of East London I could not agree with it being the worst place to live in Britain. The best place was Harrogate, but all was quiet with us for people from Yorkshire.
Tonight’s playlist.
Booker t & MGs – Crazy – show theme
Elvis Costello & the Attractions – Accidents will happen
MOTOWN Broadway Cast recording – You are all I need to get by
Aloe Blacc – I’m the man
Adele – Someone like you – requested by Anna in Devon
Toto – Africa – for Mark in Devon remembering time in South Africa
Nat King Cole – What is there to say?
Beatles – I wanna be your man – after the sale of the guitar used by George Harrison for £390,000
Dolly Parton – Cologne
Dancing Fantasy – Take Five
Sam Cooke – What a wonderful world it would be
Watoto Children’s choir – Child of God – requested by Michael
Sheena Easton – For your eyes only
Boyz 11 Men – End of the road
Coldplay – Magic
Gerry & the pacemakers – You never walk alone – requested by Phyl and appreciated by Siane
Kate Bush – Man with the child in his eyes – requested by Chris
Eva Cassidy – Fields of Gold
Lady Antebellum – Golden – requested by Rene
Gary Barlow & Elton John – Face to face
Martin Taylor – 73 Berkeley Street – loved by Brad getting ready for his show.

Next week my guest is Dean Kitchener from the Brentwood Foodbank. He will be giving us an update on the work. Do join us live if you can, and if not remember the show is always available on the show pages.
