Val Long from Crossroads Care joined me this evening in the studio. We had an interesting conversation about the work of the organisation that provides help for those who need care and those who are carers. She told us about the dementure clubs that exist for those under and over 65 years of age. These are clearly invaluable. She also told us about the fortnightly young carers clubs for those aged 8-12 years and 13-19 years. It was sad to hear that due to a withdrawal of funding a club in Brentwood had closed but one was still open in Basildon. Sponsporship could help address this situation. She also talked about the sitting service that enables carers to have some much needed me time. There is also the free counselling service available to everyone who is a carer.
