Friday 5th of January 2013

We started 2013 with a special show looking back at the most hit stories for each month in 2012 from the BBC website and those which caused the most listener reaction. I then chose a track to go with each story. Here is the theme of the story and the chosen track.

Bungee jump that went wrong – Maxine Nightingale – Back where we started from.

Two four hour sleeps are better than one eight hour – Eagles Peaceful easy feeling

You can check where you are on a global pay scale -Flying Lizards – Money.

Pilots at Bilbao not landing because of strongs winds across the runway – Billy Ocean – When the going gets tough

Epic journey of stray dog in China – Proclaimers – I will walk 500 miles

Average Brit 3 stone heavier than 50 years ago -Justice Collective – He aint heavy, he’s my brother

18 month tour of Africa that turned into 23 year 500,000 mile drive -Toto-Africa

The Essex lion that never was – Shangrilas -Leader of the Pack

Britishisation of Ameican English – Elvis Costello – Oliver’s Army

US Presidential election – Take That -Rule the World

Uraguayan President poorest in the world – Bananarama & Fun Boy Three -It Aint What You Do

Dogs taught to drive in New Zealand -Cars-Drive.

We also had request for tracks from Thin Lizzy, Abba, Joni Mitchel & Sting. Other tracks were by Adele, Paulo Natini & The Preservation Hall Band, Jessie J, Marc Antionne, Booker T Jones and 10 C.C. It was exhausing but fun. Thanks to all those who e-mailed in to say they enjoyed the show. See you next week.
