Good Friday Night Extra with guest Chris Boyland from Brentwood Churches Together

Chris Boyland from Brentwood Churches Together was the studio guest tonight. He talked about the Good Friday Walk of Witness in Brentwood High Street. This year it began at St. Thomas’ church and as always ended at the Chapel ruins. Chris estimated around three hundred people on the walk. He stated how this was a very important public witness. The act of worship at the Chapel ruins contained a very challenging message for the difficult time in which we live.  Jesus has brought hope into the world through God’s expression of love. This love always overcomes evil. Chris talked about other activities that are undertaken ecumenically in Brentwood. This includes worship in Christian Unity week and at Pentecost. The churches also run a three day BBQ in the summer that gives away over 2,000 food items. The council encourage the churches to be involved in the annual Lighting Up of Brentwood, which happens in the approach to Christmas. He also spoke about the Mayor Cllr Noele Hones and her particular support for the involvement of the churches in civic activities. Cllr Noele had been involved with the Ingatestone Walk of Witness today, where over fifty people had walked behind the cross along the High Street.  Almost all the music tonight was faith-based, with a lot of the tracks featuring in the USA Christian music charts this week. It is possible to have a successful career in Christian music in the USA.
