Friday Night Extra 21.8.15 with guests Rita Harries & Sue Saville from St. Giles Mountnessing.

Sue and Rita joined me in this studio this lovely warm summer evening. We hope for three lovely days on 29th, 30th and 31st of August for the Flower festival and craft fair to be held in and around St. Giles’ Church. They will be lots of road signs to guide visitors from Mountessing and Billericay to this beautiful church, set next to a farm and in the fields. Sue and Rita told us that the theme for the flower festival is The Community, with lots of arrangements reflecting different community groups and organisations, including Mountnessing C of E Primary school and the Brownies. On the Sunday evening at 5 o’clock there is a Songs of Praise service with a selection of traditional and modern favourite hymns. There is so much else happening. There will be a quilting display. Paintings, plants and numerous crafts and other items for sale. Across the weekend refreshments will be available. The organ, recently restored, will be being played in the church. Other musical activities will be happening, including an eight piece accordion band on Saturday lunchtime that include in their wide repertoire songs by ABBA. It promises to be a wonderful weekend. Saturday and Monday 10-5. Sunday benefice service at 9.30 and then opening at 11, with Songs of Praise at 5. Give yourself and the family a treat and go along.

Tonight’s playlist

Booker T & MGs – Crazy – show theme
Shires – Starting all over again
Eva Cassidy – Ain’t no sunshine
Rod Stewart – As time goes by – chosen by Sue, who loves the music of Rod Stewart.
