Friday Night Extra 12.6.15 You, me and the music

On a muggy day in Brentwood Town (sounds like a song), we had no guests in the studio. Thanks to all those who got in touch to comment on the songs and also engaged with the conversation. We had three stories about education. An Italian teacher had told his pupils during the three month summer break to “watch a sunrise…wander by the sea early in the morning and think of things you love about life…dance shamelessly when the mood strikes”. There was the man in Kazakstan who dressed up as his girlfriend to sit her exam paper. His deep voice meant he was discovered. A local businessman had paid half the fine as he thought it was “so romantic”. A school in Leeds is offering a summer trip to Barbados for over £1600 to play sport. This led to discussions on school trips. In the second hour we looked at advice from the Governments advisor Prof Paul Dolan on how to be happy. This was: listening to your favourite music; spending five more minutes with someone you like; helping someone else and having new experiences. Favourite new experiences today from listeners included eating Tikka Masala sausages and growing beans.
