Friday Night Extra 13.6.14 with guest flautist John Coffin

On a lovely summer evening in Brentwood, we were joined by John Coffin the studio. John has been playing the flue for thirty years and tonight he shared his talent with us all. He played two live pieces, chose a track by Jethro Tull, and explained his love of the flute. He said that in playing the flute it was important to have a tolerant wife and a deaf cat and he had both! He clearly showed you also need talent, of which he has plenty. Our news stories tonight included a Californian man returning $125k dropped from a security van, a second hand Volvo clocking up one million kilometers with no break-downs, an eagle flying into a Bournemouth living room and Russians being asked to smile and say “thank you” when on holiday in Tuscany.

Tonight’s playlist
Booker T & MGs – Crazy
Gerry Rafferty – Right down the line
Michael Jackson – Love never felt so good – for everyone listening at Mountnessing C of E Primary School
Lilly Allen – Something only we know
John Coffin – Gabriel’s Oboe – played live
Beach Boys – Good vibrations
Jethro Tull – Bouree – chosen by John
John Coffin – Massenet – Meditation from Thias – played live
Men at work – Down under
