Friday Night Extra 9th August 13. You, me and the music.

No guests in the studio tonight, so we concentrated on the music. We also looked at some rather odd stories, including new research showing how a messy desk leads to creativity. Lee in the chatroom commented that the only problem was you could not find the pencil, We also heard about a 27 year old being quoted over £1 million to insure his 10 year old Astra, and not by a computer but by a real person! Rene arrived in the chatroom and told us she was ironing, so we went into a surreal world looking for music to iron by. Susan e-mailed in and suggested anything by Iron Maiden. She also suggested someone called Ironing-board Sam. Apparently he was called Sam Moore. Not the same Sam Moore of Sam and Dave but I played Soul Man anyway. Any excuse. WE also remembered the passing of Jack Clement. In a long career he produced Whole Lotta Shaking Going On for Gerry Lee Lewis and some of U2’s album Rattle and Hum. From that album we heard Angel of Harlem.

Phyl e-mailed in for a request for Hermans Hermits. Susan wanted a track by Elton John. Sue in Rhode Island USA asked for an Elvis track. Lee had People’s Parties by Joni Mitchel. Michael requested Fool on the Hill by the Beatles. We also heard amongst others from Eva Cassidy, Doors, Galdys Knight, Caro Emerald, Adele, Lady Antebellum, James Morrison, Vanessa Mae and many others.

Join me next week when my guest is Elizabeth Bown, just retired from her role as school governor at Ingatestone C of E Junior school after 46 years.
