Friday Night Extra – 21 June 2013 featuring Sam Chandler by Phoenix Fm on Mixcloud

A busy show tonight. I was delighted to be joined in the studio by the very talented Sam Chandler who is a pupil at The Anglo European School in Ingatestone. Sam loves music and has been inspired by the music of Scott Joplin to write his own pieces in rag time. He brought in copies of his own compositions Peaceful Evenings and Plumeria. Everyone in the chatroom appreciated them very much. Sue e-mailed in listening in the car in Kentucky and said how much the family, who were all listening in the car draving from Nashville, enjoyed the music. After Sam finished we also had many positive comments on e-mail. In the second hour we heard from ten year old Ella who is running on Sunday at Gloucester park in Basildon for Cancer Research. A real mix of music tonight. Ella requested Michael Buble for her mum Lorraine. Michael wanted Fats Waller ‘Your feets too big’ which got everyone laughing in the chat room. We also had tracks from Texas, Caro Emerald, Kate Bush, Marc Almond, Coldpay, Booker T and many others. We also heard about a group of people in America raising £30,000 to send a model of Dr. Who’s Tardis into space to celbrate the 50th anniversary of the show. We thought of many better uses for that money…like sponsoring Ella!
