Friday Night Extra with guest Heike Prentice

My guest tonight live in the studio was Heike Prentice. She is an ordinand, training for the ministry in the Church of England. She has a unique training plan, split between St. Mellitus College in London and a placement at Chelmsford Cathedral. She told us that she felt a call on her life at a very young age. This has never gone away. After being married and having three sons, the call was still there. A process taking a number of years and numerous interviews, ended with a selection conference and being accepted for training. She said that though this process sometimes felt very long, and also at times scary, the outcome was very affirming. She felt many people were accepting the legitimacy of God’s call on her life to ordained ministry. She began training in September 2015, so everything is still very new. She talked enthusiastically about the ministry in the cathedral and particularly about a project teaching English to a group of women. This activity was a surprise and fitted with her belief that you should be open to unexpected opportunities offered by God. This attitude meant she was excited as to how the future might develop. It was a very inspiring interview.
