Sophie Griffiths recorded a special live set for the show. Ian Kemble from BSCWT talked about his work in schools at this time of year which is focussed on enabling students to consider the meaning of Christmas. Tim Lee told us about his Christmas this year, which included leading a service on Zoom on Christmas Eve. With the importance of remembering our celebrations in the past and being thankful for the people that included, we looked at the Christmas TV schedule for 1981. It was very similar to shows in 2020! We also had the birthday quiz with three people who had birthdays this week.

Sophie Griffiths. Have yourself a merry little Christmas, River & What Christmas means to me.

The Stevie Wonder cover was a collaboration with Luke Hunter and Liam Tucker. Luke reached out to Sophie after having found her on social media. Sophie recorded her vocals at home Luke  put the track together with instruments played by Luke and Liam. Luke is also singing on the track.

Birthday quiz

Louis Tomlinson, formerly a member of One Direction, was 29 years old this week. We heard the OD track History.

Dido was 49 years old this week. We heard her 2003 international hit, White flag.

Ricky Martin was also 49 years old this week. We heard his break through English language track, Livin la Vida Loca.

The Christmas chart for 1981.

No 1 Human League – Don’t you love me baby – also a USA no 1

No 2 Cliff Richard – Daddy’s home

No 6 Madness – It must be love.

The playlist included tracks by Annie Lennox, Enya, Carrie Underwood, Alison Krauss, Friends of Cedar Church, Brenda Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Pentatonix, LeAnn Rimes and many others.

We ended the show with Joy to the world by the Queen of contemporary Gospel, Yolanda Adams.
