Ajay Ashanike has resigned from his post in charge of Basildon United.
He arrived at The Stuart Bingham Stadium in December to replace Darren Manning who joined Grays Athletic but the Bees have opted for a change in the dugout following yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Felixstowe & Walton United.
Ashanike’s first game was a 5-1 loss to league leaders Lowestoft Town which was followed by three consecutive Isthmian North Division wins over New Salamis, Brightlingsea Regent and Stowmarket Town. However, two 1-0 defeats to Ipswich Wanderers and the aforementioned Felixstowe has coincided with his departure.

A club statement read: “Basildon United wish to announce that manager Ajay Ashanike has decided to leave the club. The club would like to place on record its thanks to Ajay and his staff and wish them well with their future endeavours.”
The Bees sit in eighth place, two points off of the play-off places, ahead of Saturday’s game against Witham Town.
