Braintree Town have confirmed the appointment of John White as their new assistant manager following Steve Pitt’s departure.
Pitt, formerly of Billericay Town and Chelmsford City, departed Cressing Road on Friday after spending just over 18 months alongside manager Angelo Harrop.
The Iron finished in seventh place last term but were knocked out of the play-offs by Worthing in the quarter-finals and they currently sit in 11th place.
Coming in Pitt’s place is former Southend United captain White who joined Braintree as a player ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and has made nine Vanarama National League South appearances this season.
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, White expressed his delight in being appointed assistant manager.
“It’s brilliant to be out there with the boys in a different role from what I have been used to over the years,” the 37-year-old said.
“It is great to be able to use what I have experienced and what I can bring to this management team and to not only put it onto the training pitch, but onto the games.
“I am really looking forward to it.”
Braintree make the trip to Essex rivals Chelmsford City this afternoon.
