Southend United have announced that manager Kevin Maher, assistant manager Darren Currie and first-team coach Mark Bentley have all signed new long-term deals.
Having arrived at Roots Hall in October 2021, the three have done an excellent job amid the ongoing off-field problems. In his first full season in charge, Maher guided the Shrimpers to 13th place before an eighth-place finish last term.
Following a ten-point deduction in September, Southend sit in 14th place and the news comes days after the confirmation that the contracts have been exchanged between Ron Martin and the consortium set to take control of the club.

Maher expressed his delight in signing a new deal: “I’d like to thank everyone connected with the football Club who have made this happen and I’m delighted to commit to the future alongside Darren and Mark. I’d specifically like to thank the brilliant backroom staff, players and of course the supporters for their incredible backing.”
