We always try to support new and emerging musical talent on air across as many genres as we can.
Antonia Jones, who has recently returned to the Saturday Breakfast show, has been busy for the last few years championing artists on her popular AJ’s Soundbooth podcast.
But now she’s back in the studio on a weekly basis we can expect more live interviews, and the first of these was with London rapper N8tive.
He’s a artist who grew up in south east London, but is of Nigerian descent and his songwriting takes influences from African artists including the legendary Fela Kuti – whose 1975 album Expensive S… is one of my favourite albums from that time.
N8tive has now signed to a major label, Warner Atlantic Records UK. He talked about his career to date, and his new single “Flava” which was produced by Jaykebeats.
You can hear the interview again at phoenixfm.com.
