School uniform bank for children needed

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

Our Drive host Jo Bailey welcomed in Sammi-Jo Goldman and Aaron Watts to our Brentwood Centre studio to talk about an incredibly worthy cause.

Sammi-Jo is the Community Connector for Brentwood, working out of Larchwood Gardens Family Hub in Pilgrims Hatch for the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service and HCRG Care Group in partnership with Barnardo’s.

Aaron is Youth and Community Pastor of Doddinghurst Road Community Church.

We’ve featured the work of the church before, as they are instrumental in running the local foodbank for Brentwood.

Sammi-Jo and Aaron came in to talk about the growing need for a School Uniform Bank in Brentwood too for children of both primary and secondary school age.

Aaron also talked about the different types of work they do within the community and how people can get involved. They provide training for street-based youth work and being a listening ear to young people.

You can find out more about the new venture at www.phoenixfm.com – and you can keep up to date on the new projects by following www.facebook.com/DRCCYouthBrentwood too.
