We’ve been playing out Love Always Wins on Phoenix FM, a new track by Margarita Shamrakov and Theo – and we caught up with Margarita to find out a little bit more about her music.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a musician originally from Ukraine but I now live in New York. I play piano and produce my own songs.
When did you first start to develop a passion for music?
I think music always made me feel something very deep.
Which artists did you listen to while growing up?
Mostly classical music.
How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?
I actually do not know at this point of my life. Probably pop/rock/songwriter. I think my music is very sad.
What music have you recorded and released to date?
An album – Tragedy – and now mostly singles.
What is Love Always Wins about?
This song is a collaboration with Theo who sings on this song. The song is about many things – love and deep losses never heal. On the song cover is my mom who died from cancer. She was a very beautiful and strong person.
Which artists influence your songwriting?
My influences include Nirvana, Jellyfish, Stevie Wonder, Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, Tori Amos, the 1975, Bruno Mars and Sting.
