We’ve been playlisting What The World Needs Now Is Love recently here on Phoenix FM from the fabulous Irene Michaels – and we caught up with Irene to find out a little bit more about her life and music.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself? 

I think the best way to describe me is that I am driven, ambitious, dedicated, and adventurous. I am a very restless soul and I think that is where my creativity comes from.  I keep reinventing myself. I’m a true Gemini….I love people, like socializing and having fun.  I wouldn’t say I am a perfectionist; I operate more by the seat of my pants on the fly; however, it is very strategic. I totally love and respect family and enjoy meeting new people…

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

Actually my entire life. As a little girl I would get up and perform for my Mom and Dad, always playing make believe. I have gone in and out of music, but this time I stuck to it and will for my eternity.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

Frank Sinatra, Robert Goulet, Barbara Streisand, The Four Seasons, Elvis….Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield, Cher.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?  

Uplifting, fun, some of it great to dance too and sexy. I think there is a sort of romance about it also. Catchy lyrics.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

I Like Rain, I’m the One, Stolen Memories, Devil in Disguise and Hush Money……There are a few still to be released.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Her, Lady Gaga, I like their style and rhythm…

Who would your dream collaboration be with?  

David Foster and Dolly Parton

What are your plans for the future?  

More of the same…Record, prep some great shows, spread my music worldwide perhaps tour and sell lots of music
