Showcasing music from cream of our local talent every day on air

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We’re always playing local unsigned artists on Phoenix FM – we wouldn’t be much of a community radio station if we didn’t.

But we’ve now decided to highlight all of the amazing local talent every day on air with the introduction of our Young Local Artist Of The Week feature.

We’re picking young local artists – and you can decide what we mean by young and local! – and showcasing their music every day on our most listened to shows – Breakfast, Eat My Brunch, One 2 Three and Drive – as well as specialist evening and weekend shows.

For the first two weeks in September we featured Brentwood singer/songwriter Sophie Griffiths, who is influenced by Duffy, Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones and has seen her music featured on Love Island, and Roisin O’Hagan, an independent Americana/pop singer-songwriter who has been writing, recording and performing since she was 12 years old.

We’ll probably carry on this feature until we run out of local talent, which I hope will be never.

You can visit https://www.phoenixfm.com/2022/09/11/young-artist-week/ on our website which gives a short summary of every artist we’re featuring.
