New-found success for Leanne with a hit in the UK charts

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We’ve been following the career of local singer Leanne Louise for the best part of a decade now.

She performed at one of our first Brentwood Centre fundraising shows back in 2012 and on the strength of that performance we booked her for the main stage at Lighting Up Brentwood that year.

Since then she’s been in for numerous interviews and live sessions with us, as well as performing in front of thousands at national festivals including Bestival, Boardmaster and Kisstory.

So it was fantastic to hear the news this week that Leanne has made it into the national UK singles charts!

She’s the featured vocalist on This Is What I Need by Tyrone & N3RD, and is sitting pretty at number 29 in The Official Big Top 40, outselling Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Post Malone.

The track reached no 1 in the UK iTunes chart too, and is one of the top 10 tracks on UK TikTok.

This Is What I Need also featured in the opening soundtrack for the final of this year’s Love Island, although I can’t verify that as I have missed the last 304 episodes.

Leanne came back to Phoenix FM to talk to Michelle Ward about her new-found success.

You can hear the interview again at www.phoenixfm.com and you can also find out more about Leanne at www.facebook.com/LeanneLouisemusic.
