In our featured football match this week Brentwood Town found their way into the Isthmian North play-off spots, thanks to Daniel Ogunleye, who entered the fray in only the 85th minute as a substitute in their match at home to Great Wakering Rovers, and scored the only goal of the game two minutes into injury time to give Rod Stringer’s side a 1-0 victory and take them up to fifth place.

It was also a good day for Dagenham & Redbridge, who went through to the last 16 of the FA Trophy with a 2-0 win over National League rivals Southend United.

Second-half goals from Mo Sagaf and Junior Morias ensured the Daggers’ passage to the fifth round, where they will face Spennymoor Town of the Northern Premier League in a home tie scheduled for Saturday 12th February.

Meanwhile in the FA Vase, Athletic Newham of the Essex Senior League reached the last 16 with an impressive 5-0 victory at home to Littlehampton Town.

The East Londoners will host Brockenhurst of the Wessex League Premier Division on the fifth round, also on Saturday 12th February.

In the National League South, struggling Billericay Town secured only their third league victory of the season with an impressive 2-1 win away to promotion-chasing Oxford City.

Shaq Coulthirst and Femi Akinwande scored the goals that temporarily took Town off the bottom of the table, although Braintree Town’s 4-2 win away to Hampton & Richmond Borough on Tuesday night means Jody Brown’s side are currently back in last place.

Also in the NLS, Chelmsford City were held to a 0-0 draw by Welling United at Melbourne Park.
