Celebrity football matches raise vital funds for amazing hospice

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We’re always doing a lot of work to promote Saint Francis Hospice’s fundraising, because we’re always so impressed with the amazing work they do in our community.

Last week we welcomed in Sean Erwood, the Hospice’s Local Engagement Officer, and Danny Finch from VIP HQ, a unique combined gym and assault course located just down the road in Stapleford Abbotts.

They came in to talk about two exciting celebrity football matches they hosting last weekend at Aveley Football Stadium, raising vital funds for Saint Francis.

Danny talked us through some of the training and preparation before the event, Sean explained more about the incredible work that Saint Francis Hospice do and both of them gave us a sneaky heads up as to the all-star celebrity line up, some locker room gossip and what to expect in the half time show!

Essex singer Olly Murs managed team VIP HQ Essex, which has a number of reality TV stars playing and the games were kicked off by Sir Trevor Brooking.

You can hear Sean and Danny again on our website at www.phoenixfm.com and also keep an eye on future hospice events at sfh.org.uk.
