Legend set to meet runners raising cash for hospice in festive event

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We welcomed Chris Franklin and Jules Knowler from Saint Francis Hospice into the studio to talk about Frankie’s Festive Fun Run.

Every year hundreds of runners, strollers and dog walkers young and old take part, which this year will follow a scenic route around the lake at Fairlop Waters Country Park in Redbridge on Sunday 8th December.

Chris and Jules spoke to Michelle Ward about this year’s event, which will have hospice patron Sir Trevor Brooking in attendance.

West Ham legend Sir Trevor will be meeting participants who will all be raising valuable funds for the hospice, which does great work in the Brentwood and Havering areas.

They also spoke about the Fancy Dress competition, Christmas Market, Santa’s grotto and reindeer petting which should provide plenty of extra fun for children.

You can hear the interview again at phoenixfm.com and enter the event itself by going to www.sfh.org.uk/fun-run.

* Lots more guests coming in over the next seven days.

* Diane Matthews from the Brentwood/Montbazon Town Twinning Association will be talking about their current offer of free conversational French lessons to GCSE students on Eat My Brunch.

* There will also be live music in the studio from Edd Coates, Stefan Georgescu and Rock’n’Roll Andy.
