The day we crammed 16 cubs into the studio to appear on Ben’s show

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We may only have a small studio at Phoenix FM but we can still cram plenty of people in it! I decided to test this out on Tuesday evening when I invited the 6th Billericay Cassini cub pack down to the station.

16 cubs came down to Ben Simmons’ show The Show That Goes Like This, along with the pack’s Baloo, Angela, and two more leaders, Ian and Callum.

Ben spoke to the cubs for well over an hour, putting everyone on air who wanted to talk! Subjects included cub camps, badges, favourite football teams, chocolate bars, twins, martial arts, backwards cooking and why white shoes can be a worry!

Thanks to the leaders and Amelie, Isabella, Alfie, Harry G, Ben, Freya, Jacob, Jude, Evie, Harry S, Dylan, Henry, Alex, Matthew, Johnathan and Esteban – and we hope we haven’t put you all off a career in radio.

You can hear Ben’s show again on our website at phoenixfm.com. Cassini cubs meet every Tuesday at 6.30pm at Billericay Methodist Church in Western Road, Billericay.

** Guests coming up on air in the next week include Louise Kempson from the Players Theatre Company who will be talking about their new production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on The Weekend Wind-Up

** There will also be live music in the studio from Faith Louise Garner, Calyco and Olivia-Jayne.
