Carnival opportunity was just too good to turn down

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

As a community radio station primarily serving Brentwood and Billericay, we don’t normally leave our patch – because there are so many interesting people and groups to feature in our own area, even though we now have many listeners all over Essex and East London thanks to our increased FM coverage.

However, when our Sunday Sessions presenter Jon Good was asked to provide the entertainment and compere the Collier Row Carnival the offer was too good to turn down!

Jon has been presenting the Sunday Sessions for just over one year and he’s already welcomed over 40 young and unsigned singers and musicians into the studio for live performances in 2019 alone.

So there were no shortage of singers available for us to entertain the crowds with!

In total 19 singers performed sets on the day – Shannon D’Arcy, Stefan Georgescu, Josh Barber, Charlie Dillon, Keira Robinson, Andreea Viliman, Aimee Broom, Macey Broom, Gracie Mae, Jessica Pearce, Liv Lawrence, Katie Wilson (Amy Alive), Jodie Tarrant, Katie Blackwell, Jasmine Hood, Jess Packard White, Logann Knight, Joshua Lord and Justina.

Jon has a new performer in on his show each week and anyone wishing to get involved can email me via the station’s website and I will pass the details on.

** Lots more guests coming up in the next seven days on Phoenix FM. Actors from the Blackmore Players will be chatting about their new production of Drinking Habits with Stewart Pink on One 2 Three, and local business owner Matthew Hailstone will be talking to Scott Ross about his charity events.

** There will also be live music in the studio from The Lightscopes, James CC, Sarah Tucker and Clive Walker.
