The curtain goes up on stars of the stage via the Phoenix FM airwaves

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We always feature lots of local theatre news on Phoenix FM and we had more visitors this week from some of the many groups who put on shows in our area all round.

Kevin Richard and Barry Hester from the Reject Theatre Company popped in to see Michelle Ward on her daytime Eat My Brunch show to talk about The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice, which is coming to Brentwood Theatre on July 20 and 21.

It was a fabulously funny chat with two guys who just love the world of theatre and put on shows the same quality as a West End Production right in the heart of our town.

Meanwhile Spencer Carter was visited by actress and performer Andrea Sandell, accompanied by actors Dave Watts and Anthony Reddy to talk about Dallas – The Battle For Ewing Oil which is taking place on the terrace at Ingatestone Hall on August 11.

The team also chatted about their film project Cassandra which is a suspense-heavy futuristic thriller currently being filmed in and around the borough.

Spencer is not only one of our newest members of the team, but is also a LAMDA-trained qualified actor who has appeared on EastEnders, Dream Team, Mile High, Love Actually and A Kind of Hush on TV as well as A Midsummer Nights Dream and Les Miserables on stage. His regular show, The Weekend Wind-Up, takes place from 12pm to 3pm every Saturday.

Both of the interviews can be heard again at phoenixfm.com.

* Guests coming up in the next week on air include Andy Maddocks who will be talking about the history of the Billericay Reading Rooms and Penny Hollington talking about recruitment in Essex.

* There will also be live music in the studio from Koray Aykal, Shoasis, Dan Olsen and Simone Perks.

* Phoenix FM’s next business networking meeting – The Phoenix Family – will be taking place at Shenfield Cricket Club on Thursday 12 July from 12pm-2pm. If you are interested in coming along please give Steven Roach a call on 07952 498009.
